WildRoseBeef

WildRoseBeef simply is a connotation for the wild rose, the provincial flower of Alberta, and for the cattle I have been around and love to talk about.  But it could also mean to some that I am a tough, hardy yet good, hard-working woman who loves to raise beef cattle.

As a farm girl from the "Northern" part of Alberta, Canada raised around stocker steers and barley and canola fields, I have a passion for agriculture and beef cattle alike.  I have been around cattle since before I was born, and have gained much experience working alongside Dad and exploring every corner of the farm by myself.

I am finishing an Animal Science degree at the University of Alberta (in the Faculty of Agriculture), and have found much resourceful information and learned more than I expected, more than the experiences I gained from handling, feeding and justing being aroud the cattle at home.

As you may have already guessed, I love cattle. But I also like studying about other creatures, and plants.  I also love music, art, photography, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and travelling to different parts of the country.  I play piano and I have played in the high-school band with the clarinet and bass clarinet. Living on the farm in winter time is a perfect opportunity for me to do some skiing, as well as, in the summer time, go for long walks and/or a good bike ride.

Though I've lived in the city for a few years with university, citylife has never appealed to me: too much concrete, too many people, too many tall buildings to see a proper sunset and sunrise from the ground, too much light to see the stars at night, and too much noise.  You can never get the scent of a fresh-cut hay field in the city, nor do an Indian-war dance and yodel as loud as you can on your front lawn without having neighbours and other folks walking or driving by gawking at you!
